How it works
Every calculator on this site runs the same transparent 2026 math: your gross pay minus pre-tax deductions (401(k), HSA, health premiums), minus the federal standard deduction ($16,100 single), taxed at 2026 federal brackets; minus your state's tax using its 2026 brackets and standard deduction; minus FICA — Social Security 6.2% (up to $184,500) and Medicare 1.45%. Nine states have no income tax on wages at all.
Frequently asked questions
Which states have no income tax in 2026?
Alaska, Florida, Nevada, New Hampshire, South Dakota, Tennessee, Texas, Washington and Wyoming do not tax wage income.
Are the 2026 tax brackets final?
Federal figures come from IRS Revenue Procedure 2025-32. State figures come from each state's department of revenue; a few states had not published final 2026 schedules when we compiled the data, and those pages note it.
Is this tax advice?
No — these are planning estimates. Real withholding depends on your W-4, benefits and other income. Confirm big decisions with a tax professional.
